European Stocks Vault Higher on Coordinated Government Moves

LONDON -- Stocks in Europe rallied Monday, snapping back after a week in which they lost more than 20% of their value in a global rout, as investors warmed to signs that leading governments would mount more of a coordinated fight against the credit crisis.

In the wake of policy makers' joint statements out of Washington and Paris, the Dow Jones Stoxx 600 rose 6.8% to 219.04. The French CAC 40 rose 6.8% to 3,391.56, the German DAX 30 jumped 8.4% to 4,926.34 and the U.K.'s FTSE 100 added 4.8% to 4,119.00.
