[Downsizing]
U.S. employers took 1,308 mass layoff actions in April -- 263 fewer than in March -- seasonally adjusted, the Labor Department reported Thursday. Big Pharma Job Cuts: Health Blog
[Career Success]
Layoff Victims Rebound Fast
In recent months, several big pharmaceutical companies have announced layoffs, including Merck & Co. Inc. and Schering-Plough Corp. But the good news is that many professionals who lost jobs in this field not too long ago were able to quickly rebound, a new survey shows. Right Management, a Philadelphia-based consulting firm, found that 73% of 282 pharmaceutical workers who lost their jobs in the Northeast from January 2007 to March this year landed new jobs at the same pay level or higher. What's more, 84% found work without having to relocate. See WSJ.com's Health Blog for more.
